Global 6000 : de l’acquisition à la rénovation

Acquiring a pre-owned business jet involves more than identifying an available aircraft on the market. A successful transaction requires a balanced evaluation of the asset's technical condition, purchase price, future operating expenses, and potential for modernisation. For a recent Bombardier Global 6000 project, Albinati Aeronautics managed this entire process, supporting the owner from acquisition to the aircraft's return to service following an extensive cabin refit and exterior repaint.

Bridging Transaction and Technical Expertise

The project began in late 2025 with the acquisition of a 2014 Global 6000 by Jetron Switzerland, Albinati Aeronautics’ sales and acquisitions subsidiary. The transaction relied on a dual approach, combining Jetron’s market sourcing capabilities with Albinati’s operational and technical expertise. This collaboration allowed the buyer to anticipate long-term operating costs and define the scope of work needed to adapt the aircraft before closing the deal. Consequently, a complete cabin refurbishment and fuselage repaint were factored into the project's scope from the outset.

Aligning Refurbishment with Heavy Maintenance

Following the purchase, the aircraft was ferried to AMAC Aerospace’s facility in Basel to undergo its scheduled 120-month heavy maintenance inspection alongside the cabin overhaul. AMAC managed the project and coordinated specialist subcontractors, while Albinati’s in-house CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation) team maintained technical oversight on behalf of the owner.

Combining both programmes within a single maintenance window was a strategic decision. It allowed the interior refurbishment to progress simultaneously with the extensive structural inspections already required on the airframe, reducing the aircraft's total downtime. Throughout the six-month maintenance period, Albinati acted as the primary liaison between the owner and AMAC, monitoring the schedule, technical progress and budget.

Tailoring the Cabin and Exterior

Albinati guided the owner through the cabin design phase, advising on the selection of leather, wood veneers and carpeting, as well as modifications to the credenza. The execution of these interior upgrades was coordinated by AMAC, with specialist woodwork entrusted to Aerovisto.

Once the cabin reassembly, landing gear overhaul and flight control inspections were completed in Basel, the Global 6000 flew to Satys in Norwich, UK, for the final stage of its transformation. The aircraft underwent a complete stripping process to remove the previous paintwork down to bare metal before the new paint scheme was applied.

Delivery and Operational Return

The Global 6000 was handed over to its owner six months later, meeting the planned schedule. From aircraft sourcing to final delivery, the project highlights how Albinati Aeronautics combines complementary acquisition and technical expertise to facilitate the entry into service of a pre-owned aircraft. The process demonstrates that successfully preparing such an aircraft for operation relies on understanding the owner's requirements, selecting the right specialist partners and maintaining technical compliance throughout the refurbishment.
