Built around a medieval castle, it is remarkable for its cobbled streets lined with old buildings of homogeneous architecture. As in many remarkable villages, there are nowadays many shops and businesses for visitors.
Le Castellet is a commune of the department of the Var in the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region. The Paul Ricard circuit is a short distance away and has hosted many editions of the French Formula 1 Grand Prix. Marseille and Toulon are also nearby on the French Riviera.
In the Var, a few kilometres from Marseille, Le Castellet airport, opened in the early 1960s by French entrepreneur Paul Ricard, was at the time intended for leisure aviation. Little by little, the site naturally turned towards business aviation, notably with the promotion of the eponymous circuit. Relaunched in 2017, the French Grand Prix was a great success. Appreciated by pilots but also by spectators, the site offers a new show.
With its 1524 meters of runway, the airport is located at an altitude of 1391 feet and is 5 km from downtown.
